These channels are already present in messaging applications such as Telegram or WhatsApp, and it seems that Meta is looking to implement them on Instagram as well, as expert reverse engineering developer Alejandro Paluzzi has shared.

Paluzzi has located a new tool in the code of the Instagram ‘app’ that allows you to create discussion channels, although they are not entirely new, since previously the company had worked on them under the name of public groups.

The new channels support the participation of a large number of people. Whoever creates the channel can decide who joins, if anyone or just followers and subscribers, and how they can participate, since one option allows them to send messages, while the other restricts it to administrators and collaborators. .

The expert recently shared another novelty on which Instagram is working, group profiles, similar to the Communities that Meta has already announced for WhatsApp, Messenger and Facebook, and which bring together in one place the conversation groups that revolve around a theme or a common social space, such as the children’s school or the activities of neighborhood associations.

Check activity status:

The first thing to do is to have the ‘Activity Status’ option enabled. To carry out this process, you must open the application, go to the profile and open the ‘Settings’; then click on ‘Privacy’ and, immediately afterwards, enable the mentioned option.

Now, with the ‘Activity status’ activated, the movements of all the followers in the application will be able to be identified, which will allow the user to find out if someone has restricted it.

Send a DM:

When one person restricts another, new direct messages will be redirected to a message request folder instead of a normal chat. Similarly, the restricted user will not receive any notification. Finally, the person must accept the message to be able to read it.

Check the comments:

In order to carry out this procedure, you must have a second account. In this sense, the user must leave a comment on one of the publications and then log in with the second account and check if said comment appears; if it does not appear, it is most likely that it is restricted.
